I grew up in Florida among the manatees. My childhood was defined by obsessions with reptiles, space travel, marine life, absurd stories, running, flipping, and jumping. You could say these influences persist.
My interest in flight and physics, combined with a lifetime of athletic pursuits involving trajectory or some other form of controlled disorientation, has led to my concern with emphasizing a sense of gravitation in my work. I tend to combine printmaking with various found materials to create a sense of charged space that is often tactile and absurd within the scope of larger metaphors. Ultimately, I aim to set up strange relationships with pervasive, anxious humor, revealing the tension between levity and gravity.
